Ion Thruster
Made from 3D printed parts including PLA and resin printed pieces, aluminum tape, a switch, and a step-up voltage generator used in stun guns to generate a high voltage. The Ion thruster passes this high voltage through a small ring of aluminum tape with spikes facing the resin-printed nozzle that is covered in aluminum tape for conductivity. The distance between the spikey ring and the nozzle is adjustable by sliding the nozzle on the built-in track. The ion thruster works by ionizing the air and as the voltage jumps through the air passing to the nozzle it drags air molecules along for the ride, generating thrust through the center of the thruster. The attached video is this ion thruster with a voltage of 1.5 volts passing through it.
